Richtek’s RT9441 is a highly integrated fuel gauge and protection solution, designed for 2-to-4 series cell lithium-ion battery packs. It is ideal for laptops, power tools, drones, UPS backup systems, and medical equipment. The RT9441 employs VoltaicGauge with Current Sensing (VGCS) technology, achieving a voltage measurement accuracy of ±3mV, current measurement accuracy of ±0.35%, and temperature measurement accuracy of ±1°C. This ensures reliable and precise State of Charge (SOC) estimation, helping to maximize battery efficiency and overall system safety.
In normal mode, the RT9441 consumes only 150μA of quiescent current, dropping to 65μA in sleep mode, and further reduces to 0.5μA in shutdown mode. These ultra-low power figures help minimize battery self-discharge, effectively extending both battery life and standby time. Low-value sense resistors ranging from 1mΩ to 10mΩ are also supported to reduce power dissipation during current sensing — making it well-suited for high-current battery pack applications.
For protection and cell balancing, the RT9441 integrates fully configurable multi-level protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature conditions. It also supports both voltage-based and SOC-based autonomous cell balancing to directly address cell inconsistencies that lead to capacity degradation and reduced battery lifespan. On the security side, the RT9441 supports SHA-1, SHA-256, and Hardware ECC Authentication, preventing battery counterfeiting and unauthorized access.
Combining high-accuracy SOC estimation, ultra-low power consumption, comprehensive protection mechanisms, and advanced security authentication, the RT9441 delivers a precise, safe, and highly integrated battery management solution for multi-series lithium-ion battery pack applications.
