Dual-Port Programmable USB Protocol Controller with Patented Bypass Mode and Dynamic Current Sharing for High-Efficiency Fast Charging
Candidate for:EE Awards - Innovation R&D Award
Richtek’s RT7212 is a dual-port programmable USB protocol controller designed for 65W to 140W USB PD multi-port USB-C applications. Featuring a high level of integration and flexible configuration, it integrates three feedback loops and four gate drivers, allowing seamless pairing with Flyback or Buck converter to simplify system design.
Leveraging patented Bypass Mode and Current Sharing Mode, RT7212 improves system efficiency by 2 to 3% in low-voltage, high-current scenarios, enabling more compact and efficient power designs. It supports USB PD3.1 28V, UFCS, and a wide range of fast-charging proprietary protocols, enabling full compatibility across various devices with a single chip.
An integrated MCU intelligently detects device requirements and dynamically allocates power across dual ports, ensuring precise power management. Built-in power coordination algorithms effectively prevent voltage drops during plug-and-unplug events, significantly enhancing user experience stability.
Combining high integration, superior efficiency, broad protocol compatibility, and excellent user experience, RT7212 is an optimal solution for next-generation USB PD multi-port fast-charging applications.
