AMD Versal™ Premium Series Gen 2 Adaptive SoCs
Candidate for:EE Awards - Test & Measurement
AMD Versal™ Premium Series Gen 2 Adaptive SoCs are the industry's first FPGA devices to integrate Compute Express Link (CXL®) 3.1 and PCIe® Gen6 in hard IP, and support LPDDR5 memory. With twice the bandwidth per channel compared to competing FPGAs, they enable fast connectivity, more efficient data movement, and unlock more memory, providing the highest level of system acceleration for a wide range of data-intensive workloads.
The new generation interfaces and memory technology in the Versal Premium Series Gen 2 allow for faster and more efficient data access and transfer between processors and accelerators. CXL 3.1 and LPDDR5X help to unlock more memory faster, addressing the growing real-time processing and storage demands in markets such as test and measurement, data centers, communications, and aerospace.
Next-generation test instruments require enhanced SerDes capabilities to support emerging standards, as well as significant I/O and memory bandwidth. Versal Premium Series Gen 2 meets the needs of next-generation test instruments by improving SerDes and high-throughput PCIe and DMA capabilities. Furthermore, through enhanced MIPI C-PHY/D-PHY silicon capabilities and corresponding CSI and DSI solutions, Versal Premium Series Gen 2 supports emerging display and camera test connectivity standards.
Versal Premium Series Gen 2 also features enhanced security functions to strengthen data security, enabling fast and secure data transfer whether the data is in transit or at rest. It is the industry's first device to support integrated PCIe® integrity and data encryption in hard IP. Inline encryption built into the hardware DDR memory controller helps protect data at rest, while the 400G high-speed encryption engine helps protect data at up to 2x line rate, enabling faster secure data transactions.
