ST Unique ID Serial EEPROM
Candidate for:EE Awards - Memory Solution
ST Unique ID EEPROMs are serial EEPROM devices featuring a unique 128-bit read-only identifier (UID), pre-programmed at the ST factory and permanently locked. They are designed to meet the growing demand for product identification, traceability, and support for repairability.
In addition to the standard EEPROM user-memory space for storing parameters and logging data, each device includes a read-only UID that enables OEMs to implement essential product recognition and clone detection. This provides a simple and cost-effective alternative to basic secure elements. The UID also supports additional functions such as version control and upgrade management.
Available in memory sizes ranging from 32 Kbit to 2 Mbit, each device maintains its unique identity throughout the entire product lifecycle—from procurement and production to deployment, maintenance, and eventual disposal. The UID ensures smooth traceability, facilitates reliability assessments, and simplifies equipment reuse and servicing.
The M24xxx-U series is built on ST’s proprietary CMOS EEPROM technology, delivering exceptional reliability with up to four million write cycles, data retention for up to 200 years, and ultra-low power consumption. These EEPROMs are offered in standard SO8N packages and support a wide operating voltage range from 1.7 V to 5.5 V, making system integration easy and efficient.
